Front-mounted knobs on the recalled ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets, posing a fire hazard.
LG’s largest-ever appliance recall covers approximately 500,000 slide-in and freestanding electric ranges sold between 2015 and January 2025. The front-mounted control knobs can be bumped accidentally by a person, child, or pet and activate a burner without the user’s knowledge, creating a serious and sustained fire risk.
LG received reports of 86 unintentional activations, including 28 fires that caused over $340,000 in property damage, 8 minor injuries, and 3 fires involving pet deaths before issuing this recall in February 2025.
The remedy does not involve a physical part replacement. LG will provide a free warning sticker and instructions on enabling the Control Lock / Lock Out feature on the range’s control panel, which prevents knobs from being activated unintentionally.
What to do: Enable the Control Lock feature on your range when it is not in active use. Contact LG to receive a free warning label kit.
